Overview

The story and DNA of the LAMDASH series can only be expressed on the web.

In 2012 and 2016, we created websites to introduce the brand concept and history of Panasonic’s Ramdash men’s shaver, as well as interviews with its developers. Both sites were based on the concept of “expressing DNA using points and lines as a motif. three.js was used to represent the product in 3D, creating a 3D space on the site that floats along with the DNA spirals created in Canvas, We aimed to create a site that can be optimally viewed on smartphones.

Insight

Make the dots accumulated in the past into lines.

LAMDASH continues to win the trust of users because it has kept evolving to meet their needs, and this evolution has been supported by the “fruits of technology”, and the “accumulation of the past”. The “fruits of technology”, and the “accumulation of the past” each have dots which become a line and are connected, and intricately locked together to form the DNA of Panasonic and LAMDASH. The elements of Panasonic’s technological innovation called “Dot” and “Line”, are what we based the design on.

Idea

A rich experience that you can enjoy on your smartphone.

The design was created mainly for smartphones, whereby users can move through the content by scrolling. As the website was made with smartphones in mind first, touch, hold, and tilt were added as directional elements. Also, since 3D data was available on the web at the time, we used shavers, etc., as 3D data aiming to create an even richer experience. With the goal of making the site viewable on even smartphone devices, we reduced the amount of 3D data as much as possible. Also, we designed the entire site whilst thinking about animation consistency and camerawork throughout the site, at the same time as giving consideration to reducing the number of files and loading time, etc., to provide a more comfortable experience for users.
